Day Trip in Pinhao

Spending a week in Portugal this summer? We visited Porto for 8 days and it was an incredible destination perfect to enjoy you Euro Summer!

Welcome to the ultimate guide to Porto! Whether you're a local looking for new experiences or a visitor ready to explore the city, this guide is your go-to resource for all things dining and activities. From iconic landmarks to hidden gems, let's dive into the heart of Porto's vibrant culture, delicious cuisine, and endless entertainment options. Here you will learn all about a day trip to Pinhao!

How to get there

Despite what people think, Porto's public transport makes it very accessible to get around the city as well as other cities such as Pinhao. From Campanha and Sao Bento take a train directly to Pinhao Station (Around 2 hours)! You can book your tickets in advance online or at the station the day before. Be sure to check the schedule but our outbound train was at 8:20am and inbound was at 6:00pm, making it perfect for a day trip in the Douro Valley.

Where to Eat and What to do

I booked the Douro river solar boat tour which includes a wine tasting as well and it was the perfect way to discover the douro valley. It comes up to around $25 per person and is so worth it!

  • Enjoy a premium picnic experience at Quinta da Roeda

The picnic needs to be booked in advance directly on their website. Every set comes with a welcome drink of Croft Pink, the first Rosé Port Wine with tonic. We opted for the premium experience at 64 euros for 2 offering a selection of traditional Portuguese delicacies with your friends. You can also walk around and set up your picnic in the vineyard directly

  • Grab a coffee with a view at Princesa do Douro
  • Visit Quinta do Bomfim and walk through the vineyard

Bon Appétit and Safe Travels!
