The Best of Andalusia-Sevilla

Our last stop in Andalusia is about an hour and a half drive from Cordoba, Sevilla. The town has more then 3 monuments classified as World Cultural Heritage : The Cathedral, the Alcazar and the Archive of the Indies of Sevilla. Given that the historic part of Sevilla is quite extensive, it is best to stay close in order to ease our visit. Our choice of accommodation has stop once again on an Hospes, Las Casas Del Rey de Baeza. It's center location which is at walking distance (10 minutes) from the Cathedral is an undeniable asset, as well as it's interior courtyard which insures tranquility despite the city. Also, on the roof, there is a small terrace with a view of the city, a bar and a small pool with couches and umbrellas. A reservation directly on their site (www.hospes.com) insures free wifi and parking.

Accommodation: Hospes Las Casas Del Rey de Baeza, 2 Plaza Jesus de la Redencion.

Activities:

For all the Games of Thrones fans, the most exciting attraction of Sevilla is definitely the Alcazar which has been used in the filming of the series as Dorne's castle. During the summer season, the gardens are magnificent. Also, it is very interesting to reserve in advance the visit of the royal apartments which recalls the decorations observed in the Alhambra of Granada. In order to avoid the long wait lines, it is possible to buy the tickets on the site ( www.alcazarsevilla.org).

The Sevilla Cathedral is the largest Gothic Cathedral of Spain. We find many catholics relics, as well as the tomb of Christopher Columbus. It is interesting to do the climb to the bell tower (Giralda) that offers us a beautiful view of the city.

Another site which served as a cinematographic decor, but this time for Star Wars, is the Plaza de Espana. We can fin 48 different mosaics, each one dedicated to a province of Spain.

It is nice to walk along the Guadalquivir river in order to have a closer look at the Torre del Oro built around the 1220s. If you visit Sevilla during Spring, enjoy the nice weather on the magnificent terrace Ena of the Alfonson XIII Hotel (2 San Fernando).

One of the most beautiful neighborhoods of the city is the Barrio of Santa Cruz, that represent the ancient jew neighborhood. There are many colorful mazes and especially tapas bars, as well as flamenco shows. We chose the show presented at Casa del Flamenco (28 Calle Ximénez de Enciso). The atmosphere created by the intimate inner patio where the show was, the dance and the bewitching songs performed are simply dazzling. To end the evening in style, go to the terrace of the hotel Eme (27 Calle Alemanes) and let yourself be dazzled by the extraordinary sight on the Cathedral of Sevilla.
