As we all know I love the Christmas season because yes to me it's a season! This year we were able to fulfill one of my bucket list trip: European Christmas Markets! In this article I will share with you what we did during our day trip adventure to Salzburg!
The obvious answer here is at the Christmas markets! Get yourself a little punsch and authentic Austrian snacks like a austrian sausage in a pretzel roll (aka a fancy hot dog)! Although it is definitely a must do throughout your trip it is definitely not the best food you can eat, here are the places we went to on our day there!
This coffee shop/brunch spot is located on a quiet street in Salzburg city center and is the perfect place to start your day! We got both the
Plus when you get a breakfast egg they put a cute hat on it and we couldn't get over how cute it was!!
An elegant restaurant that serves traditional Austrian cuisine and that will for sure put you in a festive mood! We had the Wiener Schnitzel with cranberries and it was the best schnitzel we had in the whole trip!! A must take here! They also have a fun winter terrace outside with live music if you like to party!
The same bakery that we found in Vienna, they are the perfect spot to grab something on the go while exploring the city if you don't want to sit down and eat.
CHRISTMAS MARKETS
Although an adventure to get there (easy to get a taxi from the city to Hellbrunn but once there it took us 40 minutes to grab a taxi back, if you can uber that is best), it is most definitely the prettiest Christmas market of the WHOLE TRIP.
Located in the heart of Salzburg’s World Heritage-listed Old City, the traditional market stands and its long history make the Salzburg Christkindlmarkt a truly special occasion. You truly enter a fairtytale forest of more than 400 decorated trees.
This is the smallest market and probably the one I would skip if you don't have time to go! It is mostly food and just maybe 200m long! Although still cute, it's not the best market to visit!
This one takes place in the courtyard of the Sternbräu guesthouse in the old town of Salzburg. It is super cute and definitely worth checking out
Safe Travels and bon appetit!
