Fall Weekend in Vermont

A road trip to Vermont is a chance to escape the everyday and enjoy stunning scenery, charming towns, and delicious local treats. Whether you’re driving through colorful fall foliage, stopping at roadside farms, or exploring cozy villages, Vermont has something for everyone. Get ready to hit the open road and discover the unique experiences this beautiful state has to offer!

Where to Stay

We spent our weekend at Norwich Inn which is located in Norwich, VT and is a full service hotel in a superb setting located close to Dartmouth College and Hanover, NH. It is a bed and breakfast type of hotel, perfect for a weekend stay!

Where to Eat

Coffee shops & Brunch

This charming destination in Vermont is known for its fresh apple cider and homemade treats. Visitors can watch the cider-making process, sample different flavors, and enjoy delicious cider donuts and apple pie. We got breakfast at their cafe: breakfast sandwich & french toast!

This is a cozy cafe in historic Woodstock, Vermont for fresh breakfast, sandwiches, salads, baked goods and coffee made with the finest ingredients. We went in the middle of the afternoon and waited about an hour to sit and eat but it was worth it! Be sure to get the ceasar wrap if you go!

This organic cafe is located in the heart of Woodstock offering rustic, local, country food and good, strong coffee. We went for breakfast and it was a lovely spot. Be sure to go early to avoid the lines! We got there around 8am and waited only 15 minutes!

Lunch & Dinner

Their dining room at the Mill offers a fantastic dining experience. You can savor creative American cuisine made with fresh local ingredients, all while taking in the beautiful views of the Ottauquechee River waterfall and the covered bridge. It is quite a busy spot so be sure to be there early! We had a reservation for 11:30 and got there around 11:15 to get in line for a chance to get the best table in the restaurant.... And we did!

Here is what we got:

  • VERMONT CHEESE PLATER: Rory’s scones, Pearce family tomato chutney, local crackers, marcona almonds, grapes, Vermont honey.
  • MARINATED BEET SALAD & LOCAL FETA: arugula, lentil, toasted pine nuts, poached beets, citrus mustard vinaigrette
  • RIGATONI POMODORO WITH LOCAL BURATTA: rigatoni, tomato & basil sauce, heirloom tomatoes,Maplebrook Farm ricotta cheese, parmesan, olive oil
  • STEAK & PARMESAN TRUFFLE FRIES: A prime 8oz NY striploin steak, lemon aioli, arugula,shoestring fries, grated parmesan cheese

Located in the Woodstock Inn & Resort, it serves flavor-driven plates are paired with a bar featuring local craft brews and spirits!

  • Explore Woodstock

This is a charming town brimming with activities, especially in the fall. Stroll through the picturesque streets lined with colorful foliage, visit the iconic Woodstock Inn, and explore local shops filled with artisan goods. Don’t miss the chance to hike in nearby Marsh-Billings-Rockefeller National Historical Park, where trails offer stunning views of the autumn landscape. You can also visit the Billings Farm & Museum for a taste of rural life, and savor seasonal treats at local cafes. Woodstock is the perfect blend of outdoor adventure and small-town charm!

  • Stop by Burlington

Take a stroll along Church Street Marketplace, where you can enjoy shopping, dining, and street performances amid beautiful autumn colors. If you're in the mood for shopping, be sure to check out Trader Joe's and stop by Target for all your essentials. Burlington perfectly blends urban excitement with natural beauty!
