What to do this weekend near Montreal: Day in Terrebonne!

If you are looking for something to do this weekend, come spend the day outside the city in the Old Terrebonne.

This weekend, the Wine and History festival is taking place in Vieux-Terrebonne. It will be open from Saturday 12-8pm and Sunday 12-5pm. Presented by the SAQ, this event has been taking place since 1996 and has become a very popular event amongst wine lovers. They will have more than 20 wineries presenting their products and even offer conferences and tours! Definitely an event you won't want to miss!

And after all that wine who isn't hungry? I recently had the opportunity to try out Le Xavier. Open from Wednesday to Saturday, this restaurant and bar is located in the heart of Vieux-Terrebonne. After remodeling a heritage building from 1804, they have created this beautiful space which includes the restaurant, a terrace, a private room, a courtyard and 2 airbnb apartments. This offers the opportunity to eat, party and sleep all under one roof! Within the restaurant, it is possible to observe a lot of the original design of the house.

They offer a variety of dishes with a seasonal approach and always promote the use of local products (here is their current menu). Even their burrata is produced in Quebec by their neighbors BRUT in Terrebonne. Additionally, they also have a list of privately imported wines.

Finally, every Wednesday they offer a set tasting menu which is what we had the opportunity to try out. It is a 3 service menu whereby each service has 2 dishes priced at 60$ per person. As well, for an additional 40$ per person you can have a wine pairing for each of the services. It is very well worth the visit! Here is an example of their tasting menu.
