Hayat: New Restaurant in the Old Port

Experience the unique flavors and hospitality of the shores of Lebanon and the mountains of Syria!

Hayat, a newly opened restaurant located in the Old Port, open Wednesday to Sunday from 5pm to 11pm, offers cuisine originating from the Middle East using authentic flavors with a modernized twist!

From sharing small mezze-style dishes to indulging in Lebanese brunches on weekends you are sure to enjoy a culinary voyage! With a Chef like Joseph Awad who has worked for SHAY, the Pied de Cochon, the Damas kitchen, as well as at Momofuku in Toronto and Massimo Bottura in Italy, it is definitely a great place to enjoy a family gathering around great food!

We got to try some of their dishes and cocktails and let me just say that it is definitely a must try spot! Here's what we had:

Cocktails

  • *Chamomile Whiskey Sour: Glenmorangie 10 year original whiskey, lemon, bitters, chamomile and tumeric syrup
  • Hayat's Mojito: bacardi superior white rum, pomegranate, berries and mint syrup, lime and soda

Mezzes

  • *Muhammara: Roasted Puree Peppers, Pistachio, Pomegranate, Molasses
  • Fried Cheese Boreg: Mixed Cheese, Filo Dough, Raw Tomato Sauce & Organic Honey

Kebabs and Hearty Stews

  • Shrimp Dill & Arak: Jumbo Shrimp, Arak Tomato Sauce, Dill
  • *Shish Taouk: Grilled Chicken Breast Skewers, Garlic Aioli, Pickles, Tabouleh Salad

Desserts

  • *Baklawa Pancakes: Buttermilk pancake, whipped ricotta, baklawa crumble, pistachio, maple syrup

We definitely enjoy our experience at Hayat, from the food to the service! I placed a * in front of our favorite dishes but you definitely can't go wrong with any of them! I hope you will enjoy your experience as much as we did!

Bon Appétit!
